MEET THE STUDIO!
Professor Wang has attracted students from throughout the US and the world (Europe, South America, South Africa, Middle East, Central America and Asia). Studio sizes are kept small throughout the Lamont School of Music and we are housed at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, one of the finest facilities in the country.

During their studies at Lamont, string students have terrific opportunities to perform in weekly solo performance and studio classes, chamber music, larger ensembles and frequent guest artist string master classes.

Linda Wang’s students have been soloists with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra; Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver and Lynn Philharmonics, Olympia Chamber Orchestra. They have regularly won first prizes or placed at the Lamont Solo Honors and Chamber Music Competitions and have also participated at such international competitions as the Elmar Oliviera Violin Competition, NY’s Young Concert Artists and the International Isaac Stern Violin Competition in Shanghai. During their studies at DU, many teach privately and have won positions in regional orchestras such as the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Fort Collins, Greeley and Cheyenne Symphonies. Former students can also be found performing in the Cincinnati Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, West Virginia Symphony, Delaware Symphony, Colorado Symphony and internationally in the Shanghai Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, Tel Aviv Philharmonic, Johannesburg Philharmonic and NDR elbphilharmonie (Northwest German Broadcasting Orchestra).

The Lamont School’s Student Career Development fund offers financial support for outside student professional activities, and during the summers, Linda Wang’s students have received school funding to help attend such prestigious festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival, Heifetz Institute, National Repertory Orchestra, Montecito Music Festival, Iceland’s Harpa Music Academy, Interharmony Festival in Italy, Youth Orchestra of the Americas in South America, Norwegian National Youth Orchestra, Domaine Forget in Canada, and Keshtet Eilon Summer Mastercourse in Isreal.

They have been accepted and gone on to graduate programs at the Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music, Yale University, Cornell, Indiana University, University of Michigan, Peabody, New England Conservatory, Manhattan, Eastman School of Music, London’s Guild Hall, Royal Academy, Vienna Hochschule. Similarly, students have joined her studio from such institutions as Rice University, Juilliard, Indiana Jacobs School of Music, Eastman School of Music, University of Minnesota, DePaul, College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinatti.

The Rocky Mountain News in Denver reviewed: “Her students fiddled impressively in a crowd- pleasing Perpetual Motion. DU is lucky to have Wang’s talents as violinist and as we discovered in the encore, pedagogue.
